As Antique Staddle Stones appear, this one, is a real stunner! It is truly magnificent. It has all the right proportions, colour, weight and genuine appearance about it.
The Staddle Stone mushroom top is a real heavy weight in itself and sits very well on its foundation stone being made of Granite.
It has minuscule nibbles, and lots of charming lichen, natural mottling and naturally occurring algae.
Staddle stones are a truly beautiful stone mushroom to have in your garden. This lovely garden piece is weathered and worn in all the right places and has the gorgeous colouring that an Antique Stone that has sat outside should have.
Staddle stones can also be called stone mushrooms and date back to medieval time and were originally believed to come from the word 'Stathol' meaning foundation. The main use of these stones were to raise the grain store off the ground to allow for air flow and the overhanging of the mushroom top stopped the rodents from getting in!
