JANUARY - WORKING ON THE WORKSHOP!

The Workshop 

It is really hard to believe how long we've been using The Workshop and how many classes we have had in it too! It really was about time that we gave our lovely Workshop a lovely 'lick of paint' All sounded a great idea, but it meant a lot of hard work ahead. Not that John or I are afraid of hard work!

So, John and I need to pack every single item away, from needles to tables, to bunting to twinkly lights - John loved that job! All packed away, it was then, we realised jut how much the room had served us so well. It really has had some footfall, and John is going to work out how many classes we have had over the last 5 years!

    

Getting to work with paint

John started off with painting the floor, which did take the longest time and was the hardest part as it was a really tough paint to apply - being non-slip specialised paint!

I then snuck in and got the really exciting job of 'cutting in' - oh deep joy! and applying Hammerite paint to the sink metal area. Lovely job again! 

We then waited for everything to dry properly when the weather was at its coldest (of course it would be!), and then the fabulous job of putting everything back again!

But we have got there and it does look great and we have had a chance to re-think The Workshop and are going to use some of the space as an additional Vintage Furniture Boutique space too - as we are able to open our Workshop room doors to our Customers too look, touch, feel some more of our glorious Vintage furniture...

Stunning Vintage Pine Buffet

This stunning French Vintage Pine Buffet, fitted into the space required within an inch! The owner is delighted as it is being used to store material and sewing equipment, so all beautifully put away and the buffet looks beautiful as a piece of furniture in the study room too.

On the left of this buffet are two items that this lovely lady has made with us in our Craft School,  a "Dilly" bag and "Etuile" box, and on the right hand side, a beautiful glass lantern from our home collection within our Vintage Boutique. So many reasons to come along to see us!

Stunning Vintage Orchard Ladder and Vintage Bench in Sussex

These two items of beautiful vintage gardenalia are now sitting proudly in a quite famous home in Sussex (sadly I can't say where), but they are being so well looked after! The orchard ladder will certainly being used for picking apples and pears this summer and I am certain copious cups of tea will be drunk, sitting comfortably on this lovely bench after a hard day's work in the huge vegetable garden!

Refurbished vintage tin box on one of our beautiful vintage elm stools

Recently I was asked to clean and refurbish this delightful tin Victorian box with the most exquisite hand painted writing on it.  It had been used by a shoe maker, who kept all his shoe making tools inside, and upon each of his children growing out of their pair of shoes, he would either make them bigger with inserting a piece of leather or smaller to fit a younger sibling.  What a beautiful story.  The vintage elm stool just set the whole scene off together.

So, from making a sewing box, to refurbishing old tin boxes, to gathering apples from trees, to sitting comfortably, we think we have most things covered. Why not pop over and see what we can do for you!

BLOOM ROOM BLOSSOMS WITH CLASSES IN THE CRAFT SCHOOL

How delighted are we to have Helen from Bloom Room joining us here with her Floristry Classes!

Helen is a truly talented Florist with some of the most prestigious floristry training, including McQueens.  With an Engineering background, you can see how this has crossed over so successfully with her natural creative talent for shape, texture, creativity and colour.

Helen has been seen in the following publications to name but a few!

 

Together, Bloom Room and Lovingly Made had a wonderful Valentine's competition and our winner, Henry, was absolutely delighted with his gorgeous Valentine bouquet!

So, why not come and join us in one of our Bloom Room classes, which are now up on our website to book online, or pop into our Vintage Boutique for chat!  We can always create a bespoke floral class for you and your friends too!

JOIN OUR NEW CRAFT MORNING WITH 'DONNA RULE DESIGN"

We are simply thrilled to have Donna join us here at Lovingly Made Craft School!

Joining us each 'term-time' Tuesday's 9.30/12.00 - we are all in for a treat!  Donna of "Donna Rule Design" will be helping you with your creating, making and learning lovely new craft skills.  

An incredibly accomplished Textile Artist and she says about herself:

"I am a designer maker and have been sewing and making all my life. I love creating beautiful things out of fabric, sewing and embroidery"...

Drop your children off at school, grab your 'create-make-learn' project and come and join us, term time Tuesday's 9.30/12.00

Great coffee, great cake/pastries and great company.

LOTS OF HENS IN THE CRAFT SCHOOL! and a lovely Bride to be...

Welcome to the girls... 

What a wonderful start to the New Year with a fabulous happy Bride to be, with her 'hens' all gathered around her, making fabric bunting for her Wedding day.  Liz, our incredibly talented tutor gathered all the girls together and began to show the girls how to make the special Wedding bunting. Each triangle had a special coin dropped into it, a very special memory moment.  Two wonderful girls began sewing with their sewing machines, some of the girls cutting out triangular shapes, and some of the girls had ironing to do but what they all had was lots and lots of fun!

Karen and her hen party all had a wonderful day with us, sewing and bunting, pastries and coffee, lunch and lifts back to their Hotel in Felbridge.  A completely wonderful day with hand made and hand sewn bunting ready for Karen's wedding day.
