I MIGHT MAKE MY OWN CHRISTMAS WREATH!

14/12/15 -  I MIGHT MAKE MY OWN CHRISTMAS WREATH!

What started of as a little idea, blossomed into something just a little bit bigger!

I have made lots of Christmas Wreaths in the past, together with swags and garlands for Christmas time for customers, friends and family.

This year, we decided to utilise our fabulous Craft School and have a few Christmas Wreath Classes - so we had 6 fully booked classes within days of popping them up onto our website!  Fabulous! What an absolutely wonderful start to the Christmas festivities.

A traditional Christmas Wreath is made on a moss framed base, wired in, then greenery foliage wired in again, and then lots of lovely ivy, holly, confirm and well, anything you like really! Adding in your accent flowers or decorations too.

We had such a brilliant time with all our ladies who came along to the Craft School and what was so fabulous was the imagination and creativity of all of our ladies.  It was truly inspiring to see such wonderful Christmas regalia!

So, I think after 6 classes and lots of moss, foliage, cinnamon sticks, oranges and lemons, I might make myself my own Christmas Wreath for my own front door!

Thanks to all the lovely ladies who attended our classes and of course, huge thanks to Jenna, Ivy Florence, it was just fantastic to work alongside her.   We had such a great time and I am sure we are overdue a glass of champagne!

    Merry Christmas to you all.

    Best wishes,

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR KINDNESS...

8/12/15 - THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR KINDNESS...

It is a busy time of year for everyone, especially if you have your own business too.  One of the many reasons John and I run our own business is to have the flexibility of me being able to work from home when I am poorly.

Some of you may know that I have a difficult Neurological condition which I manage day to day quite well, but occasionally, it, my brain, goes into melt down mode!  Well, I had one of these occasions and fortunately I was able to go to hospital and have an operation.  So, fingers crossed that it does its thing and I can get back to living and working.

I want to thank you all for your kindness, get well wishes and all your love and support.  From my lovely husband John, to my twin sons who both took it in turns to help me and made great cups of tea.  To my fabulous friends and neighbours who took over look after Charlie, our lovely Labrador.

Moreover, thank you to Jenna, Ivy Florence, and Lesley, who work here at Lovingly Made, and jumped in with both feet - beyond the call of duty girls, but oh so appreciated.

There are the numerous hospital staff to thank, all my text messages, emails and cards, to the the local bakery who left supper for John on our doorstep, to the friends who have helped with shopping, to my mum and dad.

It never ceases to amaze me the network of family, friends who gather momentum when I am poorly.  I simply cannot thank you all enough and I am greatly humbled by your love and support. I posted a few little words on our Facebook page, and I think this sums up what true kindness is...

    CHRISTMAS IS GETTING ALL CRAFTY

20/11/15 - CHRISTMAS IS GETTING ALL CRAFTY
Yes, I feel that Christmas is nearly upon us, especially if our Craft School activity is anything to go by.  I have heard the whirrrrrrrr of sewing machines, the tuts at dropped knitting stitches, the ooooooohhhh, aaaaaaaawwww, of something beautiful being made, and the ouch of when the needle goes in someone's finger!

Christmas Tree Etuil Box made by Chris
This beautiful Etuil box was made by Chris, who is extremely talented and has taught some of our ladies to make Etuil Sewing boxes.  This Christmas tree Etuil box opens magically to reveal the hidden treasure of sweets inside.

Then we have had Liz teaching our ladies how to make a Christmas Tree Skirt, the work and skill involved has been quite staggeringly beautiful.  I am overwhelmed by the ladies who undertook this sewing task, as it looks like one of those things that 'anyone' could do - I think not.  The results were simply exquisite.

Then we had stockings, and more stockings and even more stockings being sewn, 6 ladies, 25 numbers to be cut out, designed, sewn together, I must admit I lost count...

Then lastly and by no means least as the classes are all fully booked and we are raring to go. The Christmas Wreath classes start in earnest first week of December and we have 6 full classes, so Jenna and I have a lot of greenery to freshly cut for each class.

So, keep in touch with us about all our classes in The Craft School - there are going to be some great classes in the Spring, watch out!  We might just catch you learning a new skill very soon!

With the warmest of Christmas wishes to you all and your family,

    WE MAKE THE HEADLINES!

9/11/15 - John and I started our lovely business five years ago. Previously,  I retrained to be a florist whilst our twin sons were going to school, and then subsequently started my own floristry business and loved it!

Floristry can be so much fun!

Sadly, I fell ill, literally overnight.  John left work to look after me and our children.  I have slowly got to a place where I can work, albeit, sometimes from home, or from the sanctuary of our Craft School. I have loved getting involved with all forms of social media, well, learning about social media and how it works! It has been a challenge, as it has been so new to me and technology has changed and developed so fast.

From Facebook to Instagram, Twitter to Google+, I have learnt, sometimes the hard way, how to use these social media platforms. So imagine our surprise when we found ourselves part of Social media!

We found ourselves part of a piece in The Guardian.  Follow this link to read all about us and other small family businesses.  It has all gone full circle, from working for myself, to now working with my husband, who cared for me and now we love working together...

Looking forward to more social media but more importantly, looking forward to seeing YOU, our lovely customers in our Vintage Furniture Boutique, here in Sussex.

    With best wishes,

SEWING DOESN'T GET BETTER THAN THIS

14/9/15 - SEWING DOESNT GET BETTER THAN THIS...

We have a lovely warm room here in our Craft School where we get up to all sorts of things! Including fabulous sewing classes and workshops.
Margaret, one of our ladies with her "scrap material" quilt...

This was a fabulous workshop where our ladies were faced with a real challenge; to make a quilt from all their scraps of material that they had at home, in their work boxes and sewing kits.
    NO new material was allowed!
Liz, our tutor helping Margaret finish her beautiful quilt...

It was a great day and a truly fabulous opportunity to really embrace the true essence of quilting: friendship, helping one another and upcycling scrap material.

    Well done everyone!
We also have fabulous "Drop in/Pop by" morning for sewing and quilting, Wednesday and Friday's 10.15/12.45 with delicious cake, coffee and plenty of conversation too!

Pop along to one our morning clubs...

    Happy sewing.
    Best wishes,
    Trixie x
